Touring Hong Kong in one day doesn't seem possible. But when you focus on the main city highlights it is doable. Here's one writer's 24 hours in the big city.

If you don't have more than a day in a huge city like Hong Kong make the best of the time you have by hitting the highlights.

Start off in Kowloon at the Langham Place Hotel. Head north from the hotel to the different Hong Kong markets: the Ladies Market (women's clothing), Goldfish Market (an attraction for tropical fish fans) and the Flower Market.

Spend lunch at the Kowloon Hotel ,which serves a great dim sum banquet at Hoi Yat Heen. In the afternoon, take an hour-long harbour round trip onthe Star Ferry - a great opportunity to see the city from sea level and from all angles.

Get off at IFC and walk to the Victoria Peak tram - riding up is an unique experience and so is the sunset over Hong Kong. Hong Kong nightlife begins with great Thai food and a couple of drinks before taking the ferry to the Temple Night Market. Observe the busy streetlife or haggle over amazing bargains.

One day was perfect, but certainly not enough of this great city.
